Employment
Marketing Manager
Guard-All Building Solutions
May 2011 – Current (4 months)
Hired on as the Marketing Manager for the young company to direct their multi-layered Business-to-Business marketing efforts. Within the first two months I established a new brand and website followed quickly by email and Google ad campaigns. Considerable refurbishment and travel have gone into supporting tradeshows, a major sales lead focus for the company. Responsibilities include brand management, advertising, public relations, market analysis, competitive analysis, creative direction, 3D modeling, electronic communication, tradeshow management and media management. Have worked extensively with their dealer network to build a strong co-operative bond between the organizations to promote dealer loyalty.
Independent Creative Advertising and Design
December 2010 – May 2011 (6 months)
After a layoff from the International Architectural Group I kept busy performing contract Creative Advertising and Design work while I searched for the next long term career oriented move. Some of the clients I did work for during this period: United States Aluminum, Continental Group, Inova IT Consulting and the Waxahachie Indians baseball club.
Marketing Manager
International Architectural Group (United States Aluminum & RACO Interior Products)
December 2005 – December 2010 (5 years 1 month)
As the Marketing Manager for United States Aluminum I reported directly to the Executive Vice-President of the company. Responsibilities included brand management, advertising, public relations, market analysis, competitive analysis, product placement, creative direction, electronic communication and media management. Over time I would assume marketing responsibilities for RACO Interior Products a corporate counterpart within the same corporation with a similar product yet distinctly different market approach. A tremendous benefit provided was the ability to handle all creative conceptual work, market analysis, trade show management, graphic design, web design and maintenance, search optimization, photography and print procurement all of which were previously outsourced costs. The following is a list of accomplishments with International Architectural Group:
- January 2006 - Developed and managed the company's LEED (green building) policy, project submittals and advertising. Green Building/LEED brochure
- October 2006 - Introduced a successful photography program covering Toronto, Chicago, Las Vegas, California, Vancouver, New York and Boston. Reduced per project photography costs by <75% while increasing throughput. Photo Gallery
- December 2007 - Introduced catalog production techniques that reduces production time from 2-3 weeks down to minutes, while reducing error rates from 7-10% down to >1%.
- April 2008 - Reduced catalog production costs by 75% (saving approximately $60,000 per year).
- June 2008 - Reduced Trade Show attendance costs by <65%.
- September 2008 - At the GlassBuild 2008 tradeshow the new company website is introduced (www.usalum.com). The previous website was created by a vendor at a cost of $60,000 with an annual $12,000 maintenance agreement. The new website is built and maintained in-house at a cost of $600 for the software and $60/month for the server.
- January 2009 - Replace studio product photography with 3D modeling, reducing product imagery costs by <80% while producing better quality, editable images.
- July 2010 - RACO Interior Products' new website is ready for testing. The website is built in-house for no cost, and resides on the shared server space with the USAC website.
- September 2010 - As the result of a successful multi-year vendor relationship a 3D rendered model of the 3253 Curtain Wall is featured on the front cover of Architectural Products Magazine at no cost to introduce their feature on energy efficient curtain walls. The end value of that exposure to the architectural community is hard to quantify, but for comparison the cost to advertise on the inside front cover is $8,000. Architectural Products Magazine

"While I was Executive Vice President at IAG, I promoted Gary to Marketing Manager after observing how much energy and initiative he put into his work running our marketing department. His talent spans the creative work of running our web site, creating our print and web presence, running the national trade shows, managing the press and developing our technical documents. Gary worked well independently and was a great counsel on all things-marketing. I hope to be able to work with him again." December 15, 2010
